Urocortin (human),CAS#:176591-49-4,Molecular Weight:4696.31
The peptide exhibits a strong binding affinity towards the types 1, 2a, and 2b corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF) receptors.
It is capable of stimulating the accumulation of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) from cells that have been transfected with these receptors. Moreover, in vitro experiments have shown that this peptide can induce the release of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) from dispersed rat anterior pituitary cells.
Through the use of a genomic library, the human urocortin has been successfully cloned and mapped to human chromosome 2. Additionally, it has been found that the mature peptide region of both human and rat urocortin shares a remarkable similarity of 95%.
